So what does it really take to keep a team together.
When I play & camp for the weekend games I like to "let it all out" Its my time & money so leave me alone & shut up Ur trap about what I am suppose to do!!!!!
thats on one side
Now reality sets in and there MUST BE SOME team organization & therefore "rules"
So what do the masses say // post up its only your opinion and we all know what they say about that// a-holes & all H

Hurricane I think you have asked a very hard but important question, it is hard to keep a team together as almost all of us know. Rules/ guildlines are a must, but it also means that these rules must be enforced. Enforcing rules and repremanding a team member for breaking them is a tough choice that team Capts. and officers must do. Some rules and guildlines are easy to enforce while others are a bit more delicate. I prefer the word guildlines for most general team policies and only like the rule thing when it comes to players attitude and honorable play, and the reputation of the rest of the team. Most all of us play on a team because we like the fellowship and comrodery of fellow team mates and other teams. If we get so strict on team members style, how often they actually are on the field, how often they show for practice/workdays/meeting etc. it is easy to have some type of discord within the ranks. It's great to be on a team that seems to have it all together, and I agree there has to be rules/guildlines for this to happen, but it has to be fun too, or it will fall apart quickly. These are just my thoughts on the subject.

It kinda depends on the type of team you want to have. If you are the type of team that plays as a cohisive unit that can get the job done at scenarios then you have to practice and have rules, etc. If you are a more loose, laid back sort of organization then that is not required as much. On our team there is a core group of us that have played together for years and play well together, but we have also never had the same group at a single scenario yet. We've had from 20+ players to just one. For the most part when we hit the field we stay together for about the first hour, then it is pretty much whoever is one the field close to each other at any given time. Rules are nice of you can make them stick, but too many will drive people away. Our only iron-clad rule on our team is to play with honor. We are pretty strict about that one

I haven't been around long enough in this sport to really know how team rules can be, but I do think some people respond well to lots of structure and black and white rules and others would rather live in the grey. Anyone who knows me knows I'm all about rules and structure, but that doesn't make it the right way for a team to be. I think most teams probably have a core group that go to most events and have been around a long time, and in most cases they are probably the leaders of the team and I think decisions should be made based on input from all members but I also think there has to be someone or a small group in charge, with no leaders there's chaos. Well that's my $0.02

I say team rules should be 1) Pay for all of Shake's games 2) Pay for all of Shake's paint 3) Pick shake up and deliver him to the field 4) Feed Shake good and often 5) Furnish all other refreshments Shake wants 6) Do not let Shake get shot 7) Wash Shakes clother after the game 8) Clean Shake's gear also 9) Pay Shake's house payment for thanks 10) Rinse & repeat every weekend

Sorry, not much sleep and working too dang long. Keep the subject rolling, we have seen some teams crumble recently and I am sure many do not know why or how to prevent it from happening. One simple sentence could be the difference...make your's be the one.

runners have 2 rules, no cheaters and no trouble makers.
we just wanna have fun. if someone has a issue they discuss it and we go from there.
i will treat all new comers like they are on probation. majority of us have been together for 20 + years so we dont set any practice rules,

This was just to get topics started and a conversation going. Most do not need this topic, but some might learn from the mistakes of others...Just post your teams rules and suggestions and let others filter through them for tid bits of help and advice.
